Christopher’s continuing saga of the human tradition re-introduces his readers to Richard Post, the son and grandson of decorated, career Marines. Both Marines had been forged into men of deep character through the proverbial fires of combat and commitment.

They opened a path for Richard, not by proscription, but by example. Yet in the true tradition of the prodigal*, as Richard develops into manhood, he is drawn toward hazards, temptations, and hidden forks in the road of life.
Readers will follow his life-changing journey with interest. As we empathize with his struggles to find his identify, as fellow sojourners of the “human tradition” we learn that we must be courageous enough to embrace life to the fullest, and follow the beat of our own drummers -- not the route laid down by others.
For Richard, the question is often whether or not there is light at the end of the tunnel. That may be the question for all of us who seek to be masters of our own lives, even as we seek the redemption of our souls.

* Parable of the prodigal son: “… the youngest son gathered all he had and traveled to a distant country, and there he squandered his property in dissolute living.” Luke 15:13
