Having been brought up in Cincinnati, Ohio during the Great Depression, Bob Christopher’s work ethic, his values and his faith were shaped by his childhood and adolescent experiences. Because of his academic promise, he applied to and was accepted by Walnut Hills High School – a public school with high academic standards. His years at Walnut Hills helped prepare him for a lifetime of accomplishment in business, in community and civic work, with his church and in the arts.
There are four primary influences in Christopher’s life that impact his writing:
First, a devout faith that was nurtured from an early age by his paternal grandmother. This faith has been sustained through a life-long commitment to the Episcopal Church.
Next, the love and support of his family. His wife and sons have been a steady anchor throughout his adult life. And while his father died at an early age, he always knew the loving care of the close relatives who raised him.
Third, his high school education at Walnut Hills in Cincinnati. It was there where he was influenced by a host of dedicated teachers.
And finally, a love of business and industry. Christopher rose through the ranks of a young, nightshift foreman in a roofing materials plant to president and chairman of Globe Industries, Inc., a major manufacturer of acoustical products for the automotive industry in North American, Japan and Europe.
Retirement is giving Christopher the opportunity to devote full energy to improving our society. He is actively involved with his church, educational opportunities for homeless children, the arts and in raising money to expand and sustain Walnut Hills, the high school that means so much to him.
